Lyon defender Cris ruled out for a month

Lyon captain Cris has been ruled out of action for four weeks after tearing his left calf muscle in their weekend Ligue 1 tie against Saint-Etienne, coach Remi Garde said Monday.

The 34-year-old Brazilian central defender pulled up with the injury in the second-half of the game that Lyon won 1-0.

"It's a big blow because Cris was having a good run with good performances. It's dissapointing for him and also for the team because he brings experience to a youthful side," said Garde.

Lyon are fifth in the French league table, 13 points behind leaders PSG.
