Lyon duo Maxime Gonalons and Samuel Umtiti have returned to training after injuries, the club have announced.

Both players were substituted during November 8's derby against St Etienne, captain Gonalons in the first half with back pain and defender Umtiti in the second after a collision with ASSE winger Romain Hamouma.

Gonalons was able to rejoin a group training session limited in size by the absence of the club's international players, while Umtiti worked separately with a fitness coach.

The club wrote in two posts on their official Twitter feed: "@UmtitiSam returns to training after the heavy impact received in the derby.

"Our captain @MaxGonalons is also there and in good shape."

French sports newspaper L'Equipe reported that both players could be available for Friday's Ligue 1 clash with Nice.

Midfielder Clement Grenier also performed individual fitness drills as he continued his recovery from a ruptured tendon in his left thigh, suffered in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal.
