Pikington wary of Conference test

Published: 21 May 2009 - 12:32:00

The Hatters will begin life in the Blue Square Premier next season after their 92-year history in the league came to an end following a season-long battle to overturn a 30-point deficit. And although Mick Harford's men would have comfortably finished in mid-table had it not been for the points deduction, Pilkington is well aware that his side will be up against it next season. "The top two teams in the Conference will be similar to this division. It's a very, very tough division. There's only one automatic place. Teams that have gone down have struggled in the past," he told Luton Today. "If we keep the nucleus of the squad together and have a good pre-season we can bounce straight back up. It's what everyone at the club deserves. "There's a bit of quality in the squad, but at the end of the day it's about going out and doing it on the pitch."
