Luton Town's veteran striker Paul Peschisolido looks set to miss the rest of the season with a troublesome ankle injury.
The 36-year-old has started only two matches for the Hatters since moving to Kenilworth Road in the summer and recently endured injections that have failed to improve the problem.
Town boss Kevin Blackwell told the club's official website: "It effectively means that the injury will require an operation, meaning his season would be over. It's bitterly disappointing for him and another massive blow for us.
"Sadly January 1st is coming up and I'm sure that will bring us more problems (with players leaving the club).
"All we can keep doing is to concentrate on the football, and hope something positive will happen for us soon."
