No reprieve for Davis

Luton Town left-back Sol Davis has lost his appeal against the red card he received in the goalless draw at Stoke City.

Davis was sent off for his challenge on Potters forward Mamady Sidibe towards the end of the first half - a tackle that Hatters boss Mike Newell thought did not warrant a booking, let alone a red card.

Newell had said: "Obviously the reaction of the Stoke players, particularly Liam Lawrence, who wasn't even involved in the incident, has had an influence on it.

"The referee's report says that he used excessive speed and force. Now, as far as I'm aware, there's nothing in the rules to limit your speed or your force if it's on the ball.

"Where do you draw the line? You're setting a dangerous precedent. How can anybody possibly limit the speed at which you make a challenge?"

Davis will now be suspended for Town's next three games.
