Luton Town manager Mike Newell intends to resurrect a number of transfer moves in the January window after revealing he was knocked back four times in the lead up to last week's loan deadline.
The Hatters boss did manage to secure the services of veteran goalkeeper Dean Kiely, but admitted his frustrations that he wasn't permitted to bring any fresh faces in before the club slumped to 20th in the Championship table.
"There were four players we were looking at but it was too late," he said. "We should have been looking to bring players in when we were fifth.
"These are players we have been looking at for a while. We had discussions with their clubs but we never really got close to signing them.
"Hopefully we'll get a chance to strengthen the squad in January - and I'm told that will be the case."
