More surgery for Parkin

Luton Town striker Sam Parkin has been ruled out for the foreseeable after being forced to undergo further surgery on a troublesome ankle injury.

The 25-year-old missed a large part of last season due to the same problem while he was with Ipswich Town and now faces another frustrating stint on the sidelines.

He told BBC Sport: "There have been complications with the surgery I had last season and I have had to have something major done again.

"I am not sure how long I will be out for, but it will be for a long time.

"It is something I thought had healed, but it had not really gone away.

"It was not affecting me at the start of the season, but then it flared up over the last month or so. I investigated it and realised something needed doing."
