Hatters snare Canaries pair

Luton Town have signed Norwich City youngsters Chris Martin and Michael Spillane on season-long loan deals.

Striker Martin and midfielder Spillane, both 19, have struggled to establish themselves at Carrow Road and will gain valuable experience with the Hatters.

Martin's agent, Phil Sproson, told the Norwich Evening News: "It is a good thing for Chris, he needs to find himself again.

"Mick Harford is a very good manager and a former striker, so hopefully he will be able to get the best out of Chris.

"I'm confident that he'll score goals at Luton, he's got bags of ability and this could be the catalyst he needs."

City boss Glenn Roeder added: "Letting players out on loan was always something Harry Redknapp did when I worked with him and it's something I believe in too.

"It helps to develop the players' careers and can change them from boys into men."
