Luton wait for Christian Walton news

Luton are waiting to see if goalkeeper Christian Walton will be available for their Sky Bet League Two clash against Crewe.

Walton flew out to Kazakhstan with England Under-21s for their European Championship qualifier and Hatters boss Nathan Jones is awaiting news to see if the 20-year-old will be available.

If Walton is missing, Craig King will deputise in goal. On-loan Newcastle midfielder Alex Gilliead will hope to keep his place in the starting XI after scoring for the first time during Luton's Checkatrade Trophy tie against West Brom.

Kavan Cotter, James Justin and Isaac Vassell were all on the bench on Tuesday and may return to the starting line-up.

Crewe boss Steve Davis is expected to make a few changes at Kenilworth Road.

Leading scorer Ryan Lowe, midfielders James Jones and Danny Hollands and central defender Harry Davis were all rested against Wolves in the EFL Trophy and should be restored to the starting line-up.

Defender Ben Nugent and striker Callum Saunders have been absent recently after sustaining knocks in a development game and they continue to be monitored.

Crewe have been boosted by the return to training of forward Alex Kiwomya. The 20-year-old, on loan from Chelsea, dislocated his shoulder at Grimsby last month but is progressing well in his rehabilitation and could be in contention for the trip to Notts County on October 15.
