Hoban leaves it late

Striker Patrick Hoban netted an injury-time equaliser as Oxford came from two goals down to earn a point in a 2-2 draw with Luton.

The visitors were staring defeat in the face with just seven minutes left, only for Kemar Roofe's deflected shot to pull one back, before Hoban's heroics.

The hosts had enjoyed the better of the early exchanges as Cameron McGeehan fired over, while Craig Mackail-Smith was denied by goalkeeper Sam Slocombe when put clean through.

Oxford gradually grew into the game, having chances of their own as Alex MacDonald and Liam Sercombe were both denied by Mark Tyler.

The hosts took the lead two minutes before the break when Luke Wilkinson climbed highest to meet Paddy McCourt's corner and head beyond Slocombe.

The keeper then fumbled McGeehan's shot wide, while in the second half Ryan Taylor was narrowly off target for the visitors.

After regaining the ascendancy, the Hatters looked like they would go on to secure three points when McGeehan slotted low into the net with 21 minutes to go.

But after Roofe made it 2-1, McGeehan fluffed a much easier chance from close range after Slocombe had parried Jonathan Smith's low drive - and he was made to pay as Hoban sent the travelling fans into ecstasy with his late, late leveller.
