Hatters continue good form

Luton made it four games unbeaten as they emerged 2-0 winners over Oxford in Sky Bet League Two.

The hosts took the lead after just 80 seconds when defender Luke Wilkinson rose highest to nod home Jake Howells' cross. And Howells himself added a second after the break to send the U's into the bottom two.

Pelly Ruddock then should have had a second moments after Wilkinson's opener, only to slam wide of the mark with just U's keeper George Long to beat.

The visitors threatened from long range in the opening exchanges as Callum O'Dowda tested Mark Tyler with a low drive, while Brian Howard sent a number of efforts off target.

Mark Cullen almost extended Luton's lead, but his fierce cross shot was palmed away by Long.

After the break, home keeper Tyler made a superb stop from Tyrone Barnett's deflected drive, with the striker then glancing badly wide from six yards out.

The on-loan Peterborough forward was lucky to stay on the pitch after an awful challenge on Nathan Doyle, referee Mark Haywood deeming it worthy of just a yellow card.

Luton doubled their advantage after 67 minutes when Johnny Mullins handled in the area. Although Howells' penalty was saved by Long, he bundled the rebound over the line to secure victory.
