Cullen inspires Hatters win

Luton Town enjoyed their first home win of the season as they defeated Cheltenham 1-0.

The Hatters started strongly and took the lead in the eighth minute when Scott Griffiths swung over a cross from the left and Mark Cullen glanced his header beyond Trevor Carson for his second goal of the campaign.

The hosts had further chances in the first half as Ross Lafayette's shot was blocked, while Luke Guttridge flashed wide from distance.

Cheltenham threatened only sporadically themselves, with Joe Hanks wide twice from range, and Steve McNulty making a superb block from Koby Arthur.

After the break, Hatters thought they had a second when sub Jim Stevenson turned in from close range, but he was denied by a very late linesman's flag.

The Robins then mounted an onslaught on the Luton goal, but found home keeper Mark Tyler in inspired form.

He made an excellent stop from John Marquis' free kick, repelled Jason Taylor's fierce drive and then reacted well to save from Arthur late on as Luton clung on for a long overdue victory.
