The club are on the brink of dropping into the Blue Square Premier as they stand 12 points adrift of safety at the foot of League Two. Over 40,000 Hatters fans packed into Wembley on Sunday to cheer Mick Harford's men on to a 3-2 extra-time victory against Scunthorpe. And now the Hatters are hoping that the Football League will let them compete again in the competition next season, regardless of the league they are in. Director Stephen Browne told the Luton Today website: "It's a bit like Liverpool winning the Champions League and then rules being bent to let them in. "It will be very interesting to see what they say."
