Chris Martin and Tom Craddock were on target as the Hatters claimed a morale-boosting win that keeps alive their slim hopes of avoiding the drop and Harford was quick to lavish praise on his players.

He said: "Meadow Lane is a difficult place to come and get a result but I'm delighted with the performance we showed and most of all the clean sheet.

"They started brightly and put us under pressure but our defenders coped with it very well and after we got the early goal and got settled we seemed to grow in confidence.

"Chris Martin's goal was top class, he's a technically gifted player and his strike into the corner was extremely well executed.

"We deserved to be 2-0 up at half-time and I thought we could have had more," added the former Rotherham boss.
