Zaragoza switch for Pennant

Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has agreed a three-year contract with Real Zaragoza.

The 26-year-old joins a club that secured promotion to the Primera Division last term.

Pennant was released by the Reds at the end of last season after making 81 first-team appearances in his three years at Anfield following his transfer from Birmingham City.

He spent the second half of last term on loan at Portsmouth, featuring in 14 matches as Pompey avoided relegation to the Championship.

Pennant told his new club's official website: "I wanted to come to Spain and I had offers from important teams in Europe but decided to join Real Zaragoza.

"I really want to get started and do well in the league."
