Wilson wary of Cobblers threat

Danny Wilson is aware he and his Liverpool team-mates cannot afford to underestimate the threat posed by Northampton at Anfield on Wednesday.[LNB] The two sides, who meet in the Carling Cup third round, are separated by 68 league places but with Red boss Roy Hodgson fielding a team made up of fringe players and reserves - of whom Wilson is one - there is always the prospect of an upset.[LNB]However, the former Rangers defender, who along with goalkeeper Brad Jones will make his first-team debut, is determined not to let that happen as he believes Liverpool can go all the way in this competition.[LNB]"It would be fantastic to get to Wembley," said the 18-year-old.[LNB]"We have just got to take it one step at a time. There are no easy ties as cup football is a one-off.[LNB]"Sometimes it's tough playing against a team from a lower league because this is their cup final and they are out to impress, and you know they will put everything into the game.[LNB]"We won't take our foot off the gas as we know complacency can sometimes kick in."[LNB]Northampton beat Championship side Reading on penalties in the previous round and Wilson said that showed they should not be written off before kick-off.[LNB]"That shows you they have got great character in the team to keep going right to the end and we'll have to guard against that," he added.[LNB]"For any player Anfield is a massive stage to play at no matter whether you play a League Two side or one from the Champions League.[LNB]"They will be up for it and we have to make sure we play well and win the game."[LNB]Another youngster keen to make an impression will be England Under-19 captain Jonjo Shelvey, who is also hoping to make his first-team debut.[LNB]"Jonjo was excellent when I played alongside him for the reserves last week and if he's given a chance I think he is well worth it because he had a great game," said Wilson, a £2million signing from Rangers in the summer.[LNB]"Jonjo is a quality young player and if he is given a chance then I'm sure he wouldn't let anyone down.[LNB]"He signed at the same time as me and we get on really well. We have got some good lads here and I get on really well with them."
