Tottenham captain William Gallas praised the fighting spirit of his side after their come-from-behind 2-1 win at home to Liverpool.

A week on from their dramatic comeback at Arsenal, Harry Redknapp's men did it the hard way again, recovering from Martin Skertl's opener to take the points.

Skertl inadvertently put them on their way with an own goal, with Aaron Lennon then netting the winner after Jermain Defoe had missed a penalty.

Captain's praise: William Gallas hailed his side's tenacity against Liverpool

'It was difficult for us, we did a good job today,' said Gallas.

'We had to fight to win the game. It's the Premier League, when you play Liverpool it's not easy, we showed everyone what we can do and I hope we can carry on.

'I came here to play football and win games. I'm very happy, we're winning games with good spirit and with good players.

'We have to believe in ourselves and hope to win more games.'

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admitted that his men had rode their luck before taking the points.

'They started well and were dangerous, it was a fantastic game,' he said.

'Liverpool played their part, they were always a threat. They had opportunities to score again, they had good chances, we became disorganised.

'But we got after them a bit better, had shots blocked, missed a penalty and eventually managed to get the goal.'

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson revealed that defender Jamie Carragher is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a dislocated shoulder.

Celebrating his 450th Premier League appearance, Carragher was withdrawn in the second half.

'It's very bad,' Hodgson said.

'He's dislocated his shoulder. It's a disappointing thing to happen on his 450th appearance in the Premier League.
