Why next season could prove vital for Liverpool

Alot has been said about Liverpool's dealings over the past and they’re quality of players they've signed and the reasons behind those signings. But I’m not here to bash those signings or the managers that signed them.

I just want to point out that what happens this summer could seriously shape the future of where Liverpool Football Club are heading in the next few years .

As Brendan Rodgers has said "We’ll look at it in the summer, every club will bring in more players and we’ll aim to bring in that quality that will improve the group." (1)

Hopefully Brendan has the correct names in mind when he says 'quality', because if he aims below world class then this definitely isn’t the 'quality' I’m referring to.

I do believe that the Liverpool boss has a list of targets that if signed with take the club to the next level (and the means with which to sign them).

The names like Eriksen, Alderwiereld, Williams, Sirigu, Gameiro, Ogbonna are all names that are proven at the highest levels and would be the kind of signings Rodgers would need to bring in.

If these kinds of players arrive at Anfield's gates and become part of the team, then this time next year we could be in for a completely different look to the end of the season.

A Top 4 push would certainly be on the cards and we all know what that means ...... a return to the elite European footballing competition (The Champions League) which the red side of Liverpool hasn’t enjoyed in 5 years.

I for one hope that it’s a busy summer, quality players arrive & and Liverpool push on to the next level in the 2013-14 season.
