Who will be the next manager of Liverpool

Following the dismissal of Kenny Dalglish yesterday, Liverpool are now in the process of finding a new manager.

Despite a Carling Cup win, Liverpool underperformed in the league and finished in 8th place, even after spending over £100 million on transfers.

Here is a list of possible candidates to replace the Anfield icon.

Andre Villas-Boas

Having been rated as one of the best young managers in football after doing a terrific job at Porto.

The Portuguese manager was named as manager of Chelsea but did not have the best of times and lost his job after less than a year in charge at Stamford Bridge.

He is young and determined to prove his doubters wrong and could well be the man to take the Anfield job.

Odds: 2/1

Roberto Martinez

The Spanish manager has guided Wigan to safety once again, having defeated the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United in recent months.

His man-management and attacking philosophy make him a firm favourite for the job although at 38-years-old he could also be deemed as inexperienced.

Odds: 7/2

Brendan Rodgers

The Swansea boss has elevated his side into the top flight and brought a stylish and attacking brand of football to the Premier League.

After a comfortable season, the 39-year-old has taken a lot of credit for the job he has done in South Wales.

Once again he could be considered a bit on the inexperienced side.

Odds: 5/1

Rafael Benitez

Benitez left Anfield in 2010 after Liverpool only managed to finish in 7th place.

He is still highly regarded by many fans for his achievements during the six years he spent at the club.

Benitez guided his team to Champions League and FA Cup success and also came close to winning the league title in 2009.

After a failed stint with Inter Milan, he returned to live in the area and could be tempted to return.

Odds: 6/1
