What went wrong for Liverpool against Crystal Palace?

As most football fans watched the Crystal Palace vs Liverpool match on Monday evening, they must surely have wondered how on earth Liverpool let a 3-0 lead slip away in a matter of minutes (11 minutes to be precise!!)

Why did Brendan Rodgers resist tightening it up tactically by bringing on an extra defensive player like Daniel Agger? What exactly went wrong? Well as former reds defender Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports that night, something along the lines of “the defending was pretty woeful and you can’t win trophies when those sort of mistakes happen”.

All too often Liverpool have scored plenty of goals with the likes of Suarez and Sturridge, but the lack of a strong decisive center half with the required leadership skills has been sorely missing this season.

Why does BR not play Agger anymore? Has he had a fall out or is it because he wanted to leave last season when rumours of Man City wanting to sign him emerged?

Only the manager and player would be able to answer that question but next season they must invest heavily in the defence as a matter of urgency as they compete in the Champions League.

Maybe Man City will slip up at home to West Ham on Sunday afternoon?

I very much doubt they will, but here’s hoping from a reds supporter!!!
