Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the Barclays Premier League where West Ham take on Liverpool at Upton Park to kick off Sunday's action. The Hammers sit bottom of the table but the Reds chasing a European spot are just as desperate to secure three points. Email me your thoughts on the game at dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk[LNB] West Ham 3-1 Liverpool (1.30pm)West Ham: Green, Jacobsen, Tomkins,Upson, Bridge, O'Neil, Parker, Noble, Hitzlsperger, Ba (Cole 88), Piquionne (Spector 82).Subs: Boffin, Reid, Boa Morte, da Costa, Hines.[LNB]Goals: Parker 22, Ba 45, Cole 90+1.[LNB]Liverpool: Reina, Kelly (Cole 43), Carragher, Skrtel, Wilson, Lucas, Meireles (Ngog 49),Johnson, Gerrard, Kuyt, Suarez.Subs: Gulacsi, Kyrgiakos, Maxi, Spearing, Poulsen.[LNB]Goals: Johnson 84.[LNB]Referee: Mark Halsey (Lancashire) [LNB]15.28: For Liverpool, a massive dent in their Champions League chances and Kenny Dalglsih will be very disappointed especially with his side's defending.[LNB]That's all from me on this game but click here to follow live coverage of the Carling Cup final between Arsenal and Birmingham, as well as continued updates from Manchester City and Fulham where it is currently 0-0.[LNB]Thank you for following.[LNB]15.25: Adeserved win for West Ham that. Liverpool rallied late on but over thecourse of the game the Hammers were much the better side and move up to18th, level with Wolves in 17th.[LNB]Full-time: West Ham 3-1 Liverpool[LNB]90+2min: Nearly an instant response from Liverpool but after some good work from Joe Cole, Suarez's low shot is well parried away by Green.[LNB]90+1min: GOAL! WEST HAM 3-1 Liverpool[LNB]Game over. Carlton Cole shrugs off Skrtel and as he canters in on goal fires at Reina;s near post where it manages to power through. Poor keeping but a top finish.[LNB]90min: It's nearly for West Ham, but Noble's shot at the near post is well stopped at his near post by Reina. Three minutes added on.[LNB]89min: Ba is replaced by Carlton Cole, is there going to be one final twist?[LNB]88min: West Ham are defending heavily and they have only themselves to blame if they do not win this. It's just wave after wave of Liverpool attacks, although the latest a Gerrard free-kick sails harmlessly out for a goal kick.[LNB]87min: First chance for Manchester City but Mario Balotelli can only nod wide form a corner.[LNB]84min: GOAL! West Ham 2-1 LIVERPOOL[LNB]Here comes a finale! Suarez turns about three West Ham defenders at once inside the box and his low driven ball across the six-yard box is tapped home by ex-Hammer Glen Johnson.[LNB]82min: Defensive change for West Ham as Jonathan Spector replaces Piquionne.[LNB]81min: Some mild panic in the West Ham back line as Wayne Bridge needlessly clatters the ball out for a corner. The eventual cross pings about a bit before Joe Cole's fluffed volley leads to the home side clearing. [LNB]79min: Parker looks to be struggling with an injury in the midfield but he has been such a major influence, Avram Grant is in no hurry to take him off and I don't blame him. West Ham will need him in the middle of the park for the last 10 minutes.[LNB]77min: Signs that West Ham are getting nervous, Liverpool are having their most dominant spell of the game and the home side are starting to drop deep.[LNB]74min: The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice City have a youngster called Reece Wabara on the bench.[LNB]The 19-year old defender joined from Walsall. His grandfather Lawrence Wabara played for Nigeria in the 1950s, while he is the half brother of former Liverpool winger Mark Walters and British heavyweight boxer Pele Reid.[LNB]73min: We are underway at Eastlands.[LNB]72min: That's the first we have seen him all afternoon. Gerrard fizzes a shot from 25 yards that Green reacts well to by tipping over the bar.[LNB]70min: It's just not happening for Liverpool, that Suarez chance aside they have not had a sniff in this second-half.[LNB]67min: Piquionne has not had his best game, he meets a Noble corner unmarked but can only glance his header wide across goal. Must do better.[LNB]65min: And that is close from Jacobsen of all people! He is allowed to run unchallenged towards the penalty box before unleashing a drive that just clears the crossbar. Liverpool have been so poor in defence.[LNB] Returning duo: West Ham's Upson (right) challenges Liverpool's Steven Gerrard[LNB]63min: West Ham go straight up the other end and this time it's O'Neil who is denied, when his shot across goal is blocked for a corner by Jamie Carragher.[LNB]61min: Great save! Suarez turns Tomkins on a sixpence before storming into the box, where he fires across goal, but Green springs to his left to tip it out for a corner. I had the knife and fork ready for my slice of humble pie.[LNB]60min: Stick with your left peg. Piquionne cuts the ball back for Hitzlsperger who dummies the left foot shot before firing high and wide with his right.[LNB]58min: Back down to earth for Suarez who seems a little shocked from how little time he has on the ball and is fading into obscurity. This isn't the Eredivisie anymore Luis.[LNB]56min: Great awareness play from Cole who plays a clever pass to Piquionne on the right, but after he darts into the box to meet a cross, Piquionne delays too long and the potential chance goes as he fails to get a cross in.[LNB]55min: West Ham have woke up and so has Hitzlsperger. Not for the first time today a Hammers player storms through the midfield unchallenged and his strike with his weaker right-foot is deflected before going out for a corner.[LNB]53min: Unlucky from Ba. His low strike 20 yards out is well hit but just creeps past the post.[LNB]52min: Looks to be a knee problem for Raul, which adds up after he seemed to pull up after he was tackled by Parker at 33min.[LNB]49min: More injury woe for Liverpool as Raul Meireles limps off, David Ngog is on in his place and this looks a very attacking line up for the visitors.[LNB] game over: Scott Parker (left) sees to Martin Kelly after the Liverpool full-back collapsed holding his hamstring[LNB]48min: Early pressure from Liverpool who win a corner after Tomkins takes no chances by heading a cross over his own bar.[LNB]Suarez's cross is poor though and the Hammers clear.[LNB]Second-half: West Ham get us back underway.[LNB]14.33: I would like to have been in the Liverpool dressing room at half-time. A goal down and you're still in it, two down and you are chasing the game.[LNB]Careless lack of concentrating from the defence just before half-time and Dalglish will be furious...he looked it anyway.[LNB]14.31: For only the second time this season, David Silva is not involved in the matchday squad as Manchester City entertained Fulham at Eastlands.[LNB]The popular Spain international does not even make the bench, which hints at a possible injury given the only previous time he did not feature was at Arsenal at the start of last month.[LNB]Vincent Kompany fails to recover from a hip injury for the Blues, whose old boss Mark Hughes is returning to the club he was sacked by in December 2009, although star striker Bobby Zamora does not come with him after injuring an ankle in training.[LNB]14.29: I had to double-take there, it's just dropped in! From Eastlands:[LNB]Man City v FulhamMan City: Hart, Boateng, Toure, Lescott, Kolarov, Toure Yaya, Barry, Zabaleta, Tevez, Balotelli, Dzeko. Subs: Taylor, Milner, Wright-Phillips, Vieira, Jo, Wabara, Guidetti.Fulham: Schwarzer, Baird, Hughes, Hangeland, Salcido, Duff, Etuhu, Murphy, Dempsey, Johnson, Dembele. Subs: Stockdale, Kelly, Gera, Gudjohnsen, Kakuta, Greening, Davies.Referee: Peter Walton (Northamptonshire)[LNB]14.26: Fear not Manchester City - Fulham fans, I haven't forgotten about you![LNB]I will bring team news and major updates from your game which kicks-off at 3pm.[LNB]14.23: Thoroughly deserved lead at the interval for the home side who have not let Liverpool settle at all.[LNB]One more goal and they move off the foot of the table and out of the bottom three.[LNB]Half-time: West Ham 2-0 Liverpool[LNB] Ba-rnstorming: Demba Ba heads West Ham into a 2-0 lead[LNB]45min: GOAL! WEST HAM 2-0 Liverpool[LNB]I could watch this header all day long. O'Neil clips a ball into the box and like a salmon, Demba Ba launches his body at it making clean contact with a header that again leaves Reina diving at nothing.[LNB]43min: The full-back at least manages to make his own way off the pitch, albeit by limping. But in in his place is Hammers old boy Joe Cole.[LNB]42min: That does not look good. Kelly is in full flight down the right but under no challenge collapses in a heap clutching his hamstring. His afternoon is almost certainly over.[LNB]Pressure: Matthew Upson challenges Dirk Kuyt as West Ham gave Liverpool no time on the ball in the first half[LNB]41min: Must do better...or let the master work his magic. Lucas fouls Hitzlsperger 25 yards out, but Noble's free-kick curls harmlessly wide. The German should have just hit one of his thunderbolts.[LNB]40min: Good effort. Martin Kelly spots an opening 20 yards out but his low shot is comfortably stopped by Green diving to his near post. He may have had better options but if you don't shoot you don't score.[LNB]38min: The visitors are really struggling to pass the ball. All short passes are going backwards with the only thing going forward are long hopeful punts. Too much Six Nations for King Kenny's side.[LNB]35min: Waste from Piquionne. God knows where the Liverpool midfield is when he receives the ball 30 yards out, but with Demba Ba as an option to his left he goes it alone through the centre before being crowded out by the Hammers defence and losing the ball.[LNB]Moments earlier there was a penalty shout for both sides, but for me Cole and Suarez in opposing boxes go down far too easily.[LNB]33min: Hustle, hustle, hustle. West Ham are chasing everything down and Liverpool just can't get going.[LNB]Even Raul Meireles is fading after being easily mugged off the ball by the energetic Parker.[LNB]30min: West Ham are winning the midfield battle here and as a result are the better side. This is no welcome return for Gerrard who is being kept under lock and key by Hitzlsperger.[LNB]28min: For the record, that goal is certainly a contender for goal of the month and dare I say it better than Wayne Rooney's...the goal against Manchester City not Wigan.[LNB]26min: They nearly do get a second! A lovely move sees Piquionne square the ball across the six-yard box where Demba Ba has a 'Gazza Euro 96 moment' by just failing to make a touch with his slide. This game has come to life.[LNB]24min: West Ham's hunger to go for a second nearly costs them as Liverpool hit them on the counter.[LNB]Suarez leads it and after feeding Kuyt, the forward's shot just clips the side-netting at Green's near post from the edge of the box.[LNB] Great Scott: Parker (left) linked up well with Hitzlsperger to score West Ham's opener[LNB]22min: GOAL! WEST HAM 1-0 Liverpool[LNB]Stunning. Scott Parker plays a one-two with Hitzlsperger and from the edge of the box applies a deft touch that has perfect curl and perfect power as Reina dives at thin air.[LNB]20min: Poor from Piquionne. Noble threads him a through ball that although may be slightly over-hit the striker gives up very early on. He should have at least TRIED to keep it from going out past the byline.[LNB]17min: Little bit scrappy at the moment. Neither side have taken the bull by the horns so to speak as they take it in turns to waste possession.[LNB]14min: But Liverpool go even closer with a corner of their own.[LNB]Raul Meireles' cross is met by Glen Johnson's head but his powerful effort is blocked by Piquionne's hand before the striker clears. The visitors don't appeal for a penalty but it was a definite handball.[LNB]13min: Hitzlsperger's corner causes some mild panic in the Liverpool box as it falls free but Gary O'Neil's shot is blocked before the visitors clear.[LNB]12min: Raul Meireles seems to be a thorn in the Hammers' side already. West Ham do well to get a wall of bodies in front of him 20 yards out but he still manages to get a shot in that Robert Green easily saves.[LNB] Tangle: Liverpool's Lucas Leiva (white) battles with West Ham's Mark Noble[LNB]10min: Good even contest do far, Liverpool more useful on the ball but so far happy to just test the water in terms of how they attack.[LNB]7min: Frederic Piquionne's quick feet are too swift for Martin Skrtel. The striker leaves the defender for dead with a quick turn but the Slovakian responds by cynically bringing him down. He becomes the first player booked.[LNB]5min: A let-off for West Ham. Raul Meireles manages to get in-between James Tomkins and Lars Jacobsen inside the box to head just over the bar. Poor marking there.[LNB]4min: They have every reason too as well. The German hits a dipping first-time volley 30 yards out which has the power but not the direction as Pepe Reina comfortably takes.[LNB]3min: Thomas Hitzlsperger fever is really in the air. He gets the ball on the halfway line and already the home fans shout shoot![LNB]2min: Liverpool with all the early possession as they line up with their flexible 3-5-2 formation.[LNB]Kick-off: Luis Suarez and Dirk Kuyt get us underway as Liverpool kick from left to right.[LNB]13.28: Teams are out on an overcast day in east London, stadium looks full and with a point doing neither of these sides any favours, we should have a good attacking game of football here.[LNB]13.25: Remarkable comeback from Upson by the way. He was ruled out for the season at one point but he lines up in his usual position at centre-back.[LNB]His form has been indifferent this season but he is vital towards West Ham's bid for survival.[LNB]13.22: Liverpool are not the ideal opposition to face either. Under Kenny Dalglish the Reds are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games, winning four of them.[LNB]Don't count them out of a Champions League spot yet, a win today will take them to within just three points of Chelsea and five points of Spurs.[LNB]13.19: And the Hammers know all about that, having been relegated in 2003 with 42 points. Last season just 31 would have kept you up.[LNB]13.16: I have to be honest I feel a little sorry for West Ham. They have not been playing that badly in recent weeks, yet no matter what points they pick up, they keep slipping to the foot of the table.[LNB]I have a feeling that the magic mark of 40 points will not be enough to keep you in the Premier League this season.[LNB]13.13: Anyone remember the reverse fixture earlier in the season?[LNB]Roy Hodgson's Liverpool were ruthless in winning 3-0 back in November and I have to be honest, I didn't think of the two managers it would be Avram Grant still left in his position as boss.[LNB]13.10: ...As a Sky Sports pundit, Robbie Fowler has claimed he is still good enough to play in the English top flight and is no mood to retire.[LNB]Past it? I have seen worst free transfers. As they say, class is permanent.[LNB]13.08: We may be outside the transfer window but for clubs desperate for a striker, one of the Premier League's greatest ever goal scorers has made himself available...[LNB]13.05: Steven Gerrard returns to lead Liverpool out at West Ham today after missing their last three matches with a groin injury.[LNB]The Reds' talismanic captain was one of four changes for the visitors, with Luis Suarez, Jamie Carragher and Glen Johnson also drafted in, while Danny Wilson makes his Premier League debut and Joe Cole drops to the bench.[LNB]Hammers skipper Matthew Upson shakes off an achilles problem to start, while there are also recalls for Frederic Piquionne and Gary O'Neil, with Carlton Cole only a substitute.[LNB]13.02: From Upton Park:[LNB]West Ham v LiverpoolWest Ham: Green, Jacobsen, Tomkins, Upson, Bridge, O'Neil, Parker, Noble, Hitzlsperger, Ba, Piquionne. Subs: Boffin, Reid, Cole, Boa Morte, Spector, da Costa, Hines.Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Wilson, Lucas, Meireles, Johnson, Gerrard, Kuyt, Suarez. Subs: Gulacsi, Cole, Kyrgiakos, Maxi, Ngog, Spearing, Poulsen.Referee: Mark Halsey (Lancashire)[LNB]13.00: Good afternoon and what a Sunday we are in for![LNB]There may be a cup final later on but that doesn't diminish the importance of the Premier League encounters today.[LNB]First up West Ham v Liverpool and both sides are absolutely desperate for three points for entirely different reasons.
