West Ham close in on Carroll loan deal

West Ham United look set to complete a 12 month loan deal for Liverpool outcast Andy Carroll.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce first asked about a possible loan move for Liverpool striker Carroll a month ago, but the England international was reported to be uninterested in moving to London.

However, the Liverpool striker looks to have changed his mind about moving to the capital after arriving in London tonight to begin a medical.

It is understood that even if Carroll helps to keep West Ham up this season, there is no commitment to making the deal permanent.

Newcastle United could still make a move however to land Carroll on a permanent basis, with an offer of around £18m likely to be enough to tempt Liverpool to sell.
