Wary Reds won't risk Torres
19 Dec 2008 - 14:18:45
Spain international Fernando Torres will play no part in Liverpool's Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday as the striker continues his recovery from a troublesome hamstring injury.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined for the last three weeks with the problem as his stop-start season continues.
A succession of niggling injuries have restricted the former Atletico Madrid forward to only seven Premier League starts so far this term but he has at least returned to full training.
Assistant manager Sammy Lee said: "He won't be fit for the weekend, no.
"He's back in training and running but we're trying to make sure he's right and 100 per cent for when he does come back."
Meanwhile, Lee is trying to keep the enticing Champions League last 16 encounter with Real Madrid at the back of his mind, adding: "It's an excellent draw against a terrific club and a terrific institution, and for Liverpool to go and play against them is great.
"But it's in February and we've got to make sure we don't lose focus and that we concentrate on the job at hand, which is Sunday.
"It's a terrific tie against a very good club and a very good team."
