VIDEO SPECIAL: Scholes' fluke goal joins list of weird and wonderful strikes

Paul Scholes has scored some fine goals over the years but last night's strike against AC Milan wasn't one of them. His right foot swung at the ball but it was his standing left leg which made the vital contact to score one of Manchester United's more unconventional goals. Every goal counts, or so they say, yet some raise more laughs than goal of the season nominations. So here's some of Sportsmail's favourite freak goals. You put your left leg in... Paul Scholes (right) scores against AC Milan last night Darren Bent - SUNDERLAND v Liverpool, 2009Suntan lotion and bucket and spade at the ready? Good,  we're off to the beach. Darren Bent's shot was heading goalwards but the Liverpool branded ball altered its course and bounced past a stranded Pepe Reina. Sales of beach balls in the Manchester area have been very healthy ever since. Life's a beach: Bent scores past Reina after his shot hit a beachball (right) Adam Czerkas - ODRA WODZISLAW v Wisla Plock, 2007 The former QPR striker's career may have stalled in England and he got a bum deal when he moved back to Poland, too. Showing real cheek, he lobbed the Wisla Plock keeper from 25 yards with his derriere. VIDEO: The cheekiest goal of all time Tomas Brolin - LEEDS UNITED v Sheffield Wednesday, 1995Nowthis chap looked like a world-beater in the early 90s, but after his£4.5m move to Leeds, he looked useless, bloated and ready for a liedown. Here's what was probably the highlight of his time in Yorkshire -a goal he scored while lying flat out on the floor. VIDEO: The only way Tomas Brolin ever looked like scoring for Leeds Siyabonga Nomvethe - SOUTH AFRICA v Slovenia, 2002 I'm notsure whether to laugh or cry at this one. Nomvethe may have got on thescore sheet but he would have needed to see a doctor soon after. Still,he had his moment of World Cup glory and showed real balls scoring thisgoal. Click HERE to watch this goal Bernd Holzbein - EINTRACHT FRANKFURT, 1979 Holzbein scored 160 league goals for Eintracht in the late 70 and early 80s. But none were as fortuitous as this one. In fact, he had no idea that the keeper was going to drop the ball on his head while he was sat on the floor. Skip one minute into this video, you'll see what I mean.
