Victor Valdes to join Liverpool during international break

The Reds have had a rough time winning matches at the beginning of the season. Seven points from six games does simply not match this kind of team. Fans hope to grab the title this season and Brendan Rodgers has to make it possible.

Valdes, 32, was released by Barcelona in July and has been seeking for a new club since. AS Monaco were interested into bringing the Spaniard to the principality, but have decided to stick with Danijel Subasic as their no. 1 goalkeeper.

In early September, the free agent was declared as one of the possible replacements for Pepe Reina's spot who joined Bayern Munich. One month later, the title contenders are close on finishing the deal with Valdes.

What will happen to Simon Mignolet? The 26-year-old Belgian has condeded nine goals in six matches and the arrival of a new goalkeeper could boost the pressure on the current member of the starting eleven.

Gerrard and co. must not make further errors if they want to return to the top. Maybe selling Agger was a wrong move by Rodgers and a problem which is now troubling the squad? Either way, they need to do better in the defence, as well as in the offence. Buying Valdes could just make the positive difference.
