Critic: Sir Alex Ferguson Rafa Benitez may have got one over on Manchester United with Liverpool's stunning victory at Old Trafford, but Sir Alex Ferguson has mocked the Spaniard for what has infamously been dubbed 'Rafa's rant'. The Stretford Enders' favourite chant of 'Rafa's cracking up' came unstuck during the 4-1 defeat on Saturday lunchtime, but Ferguson says the Anfield manager's scripted press conference in January was a mistake. An interview published today in the New Statesman was carried out before Liverpool's win breathed life into the title race, but when was asked for his reaction to Benitez's outburst, Ferguson said: 'Weird. I really don't know what he was talking about. 'He'd obviously worked himself up into something because he was reading it out. I'd be amazed if his staff or his players thought it was a good idea.' Ferguson also omitted Benitez when discussing who were the next best managers in the league, choosing instead to mention Arsenal's Arsene Wenger, Everton's David Moyes and Aston Villa's Martin O'Neill.
