Tykes hopeful on Hammill

Simon Davey is looking to push through a deal for Liverpool winger Adam Hammill, but he has ended his interest in four trialists. Hammill made a good impression on Davey during a three-month loan spell with Barnsley last season. He has not yet been given a squad number by Liverpool and Davey has held talks over a possible move back to Oakwell. "I'm still looking at a few players, discussions are ongoing," Davey told The Star. "I've said that Hammill would be a good addition to our squad, but we're also on the look-out for a striker." John Glele, Jurgen Csandl, Deogo and Anduela Prior have all been training with the Tykes in pre-season but Davey admits he will not be offering any deals. "John Glele is an excellent left-back. We felt that we had Rob Kozluk at the club and signing John would stand in the way of Luke Potter's development," Davey told Barnsley's official website. "Jurgen Csandl is another good player but I didn't feel that we could get 15 or 20 games out of him in a Championship season. "Deogo had all the right attributes but was not at the right fitness level to be tested at this level. We will monitor his progress. "Anduela Prior came here with a good pedigree from Holland but if we were to sign him for the money they wanted then he would had to have been a regular in our starting XI. "We didn't feel we could offer that with the likes of Martin Devaney and Jamal Campbell-Ryce in our squad as well."
