Transfer Round Up 18 June - AVB & Bale to PSG, Carroll & Suarez leaving Liverpool

Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is growing every day. Yesterday it was rumored that PSG had contacted AVB’s agent to see what his status was and if he would be interested in such a move. This rumor has been going on for the last two weeks and Villa-Boas has yet to turn down PSG’s interest again or state that his future is confirmed to Spurs. If that wasn’t enough, the Daily Mirror is reporting that PSG are putting together a £85m bid for Spurs Gareth Bale. PSG have the money for a transfer but at this point nothing has been confirmed.

After listening to Luis Suarez sweet talk Real Madrid over the weekend in the press, Liverpool has told Suarez to put in a transfer request if he wants to leave. I was further surprised that Suarez did not pull one out of his pocket right then and there. Suarez wants out of England so bad he would swim to Spain if given the chance and it looks like Liverpool have opened the door for him to do so. If Suarez believes that the Spanish media is so much more caring and forgiving then the English media, he may want to place a call to Luka Modric before dropping that transfer request on Brendan Rodgers desk. Beware Barca, the toothy one is headed your way.

Andy Carroll is back at West Ham and the only thing stopping his transfer is a medical. Once the medical is completed, Carroll will become a Hammer. West Ham is a good fit for Carroll and he looks to have the fans backing and respect. He should be able to flourish and finally become the top player that everyone expected him to be under manager Sam Allardyce. Liverpool had to lower the transfer fee but was willing to do so in order to move on and get the deal done.

Lastly, with the Andy Carroll deal almost complete, Liverpool has set their sights on Shakhtar midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Both Juventus and PSG were both in the market but Liverpool has beaten them to the punch. Mkhitaryan is flying in for a medical and Brendan Rodgers hopes to have the deal completed by the end of the week. The Armenia international will arrive on a £23m transfer fee, partly funded by the selling of Carroll. The 24-year-old scored 25 goals for Shakhtar last season and will add another attacking option for the Reds.
