Transfer News: Tottenham and Liverpool chase Wickham; Manchester United eye De Rossi

Ipswich Town's Connor Wickham has been hot property for some time now, with a host of big clubs in England chasing his signature.

The 17-year-old striker continues to impress in the Championship, banging in the goals for Paul Jewell's rejuvenated side. And it appears as though his hat-trick away at Doncaster in midweek has convinced both Tottenham and Liverpool to firm up their interest with a cash bid this summer.

Town are said to want around £15 million for Wickham but both clubs are unwilling to pay so much for a player still unproven at Premier League level. Spurs look to be in the driving seat, with Daniel Levy confident of securing the young Englishman for around £10m.

One thing's for sure, Connor won't be an Ipswich player come the start of next season.

With Paul Scholes not far away from retirement and Michael Carrick failing to establish himself in Sir Alex Ferguson's first-choice XI, Manchester United are on the hunt for a commanding central midfielder this summer.

Top of Fergie's wishlist is Daniele De Rossi, Roma's box-to-box midfield hardman. With Claudio Ranieri's side languishing towards mid-table, Champions League qualification looks unlikely this season, opening the door for De Rossi to move to Old Trafford.

The Italian international could cost around £20m.

Newcastle's Jose Enrique is a player in demand, with Liverpool and AC Milan lining up summer bids for the Spaniard.

Chelsea are interested in Turkish international Arda Turan.

Both Wigan and Bolton are hopeful of signing Middlesbrough midfielder Julio Arca this summer.

Patrice Evra looks set to stay at Manchester United despite interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
