Transfer News - Liverpool to Spurs for Pavlyuchenko and Dos Santos; City want Pato

24 September 2010 07:28
Liverpool might be in financial crisis, but that hasn't stopped reports today of a January move to sign Roman Pavlyuchenko and Giovani dos Santos from Tottenham.

According to caughtoffside.com, Roy Hodgson is keen on uniting Pavlyuchenko with Fernando Torres, and has been tracking the striker for some time.

Attacking midfielder Dos Santos has struggled to make an impression at White Hart Lane this season, and could be tempted by the offer of regular first-team football.

Liverpool's hopes of signing the pair may rest on whether a new buyer is found for the club before the window.

A combined pricetag of £18 million has been bandied around, and it's hard to see Liverpool producing that kind of fee without some major changes behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mirror Spurs have agreed a £1.5m deal to sign South African international defender Bongani Khumalo.

The 23-year-old currently plys his trade at SuperSport United, but impressed Harry Redknapp while on trial at White Hart Lane.

Khumalo played all three group games for South Africa at the 2010 World Cup and scored in their famous 2-1 win against France.

Finally, back to caughtoffside.com for the suggestion that Manchester City are plotting an outrageous £55m raid for Alexandre Pato.

The AC Milan striker is said to be keen on a new challenge, after four years at the San Siro.
