Transfer Gossip - 27th January

Speculation in today's press has controversially linked Liverpool's Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun with a move to Spartak Moscow.

The transfer, should it materialise, may come as a surprise to many Reds fans as Benayoun has certainly been among Liverpool's better performers despite what has been a dismal season thus far.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth boss Avram Grant is set to become one of the busiest managers in the Premier League as he rushes to sign reinforcements having finally seen the transfer embargo lifted at Fratton Park.

Grant is expected to launch a move to bring Jamie O'Hara back to the south coast from Spurs and has already secured the loan signing of  former Arsenal forward Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.

And it appears O'Hara may not be the only one heading out of the exit door at White Hart Lane.

West Ham are believed to have expressed an interest in out-of-favour midfielder David Bentley who, making a rare start, scored during Tottenham's 2-0 victory over Fulham last night.

It has also emerged that Spurs have entered talks with Hammers target Eidur Gudjohnsen, sparking further rumours regarding the imminent exit of want-away striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

The Russian has already been linked with a move back to his homeland, but it is believed Birmingham and Liverpool also hold an interest.

Elsewhere, Santos midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso has announced he is not interested in joining Manchester City as part of a deal to take Robinho back to the Brazilian club.

The highly-sought-after youngster said: "I'd prefer to play for a big club in Europe."

Not only do his comments cast doubts over Robinho's departure, but they are almost certainly damaging to City's pride, especially on a day when they are vying to prove their credentials with victory over rivals Manchester United in the Carling Cup.

At the other end of the table, Wolves are set to return with a third and final bid for Hull winger Stephen Hunt, while Bolton boss Owen Coyle is allegedly poised to make a loan offer for exciting Arsenal prodigy Jack Wilshere.
