Tottenham look to hijack yet another Liverpool target

Tottenham Hotspur officials will today meet with striker Divock Origi to discuss a potential move to White Hart Lane, reports The Express.

Liverpool were thought to be close to concluding a deal to take the 19 year old to Anfield with a fee and personal terms agreed. But Tottenham have launched a last gasp assault to try and lure Origi with the prospect of regular first team football as opposed to Liverpool's preference to loan the player back to Lille for the forthcoming season.

Origi scored only 5 league goals in 30 appearances for Lille in the last campaign but a strong showing for Belgium in Brazil has made him a highly coveted prospect.

The young striker has excellent close control and blistering pace and would certainly add a new dimension the the current crop of strikers at Spurs. He would also be made to feel more than welcome at the Lane with a host of his international teammates already based at the North London club.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino is yet to conclude any business since taking over the club this summer. He would however like new faces in the squad before they set off to tour to the States and Canada later this month.
