Torres poised to miss games
26 Feb 2009 - 09:44:13
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is expected to miss at least two Premier League games with the ankle problem picked up in Wednesday's victory over Real Madrid.
The Spain striker limped out of the 1-0 Champions league last 16 first leg victory at the Bernabeu on the hour-mark after taking a blow to the ankle midway through the first half.
Torres appeared to be labouring before his substitution and afterwards Reds boss Rafael Benitez admitted he would definitely miss Saturday's league meeting with Middlesbrough.
The striker is also unlikely to be risked for next Tuesday's visit of Sunderland to Anfield ahead of the second leg with the Spanish champions the following week.
"With Torres, we don't know. Probably, he will miss some games," admitted Benitez.
"We have one game in three days' time (at Middlesbrough) so it will be difficult for him to be ready."
