Torres injuries worry Reds
24 Mar 2008 - 10:58:18
Liverpool's star striker Fernando Torres faces scans on ankle and rib injuries sustained in the 3-0 defeat at Manchester United.
The 24-year-old Spain international, who has scored 27 goals already in his debut season at Anfield, was taken off by boss Rafa Benitez eight minutes from time at Old Trafford.
Afterwards, Benitez said that he was unhappy with the rough treatment he felt he been dished out on Torres by the United backline.
He told the club's official website: "Torres had some knocks on his ribs and ankle, a lot of knocks and a lot of kicks.
"I was just trying to protect him. The doctors will do a scan and we will see.
"Was I disappointed by the intimidation of Torres? Maybe I should ask others for their opinion. I have my own opinion, which was very clear.
"We have seen a lot of things and we do not need to talk about problems with referees. It was very clear."
