Torres' World Cup dream under threat due to Liverpool hitman's groin injury

Fernando Torres' World Cup dream is in the balance after he was warned he would be plagued by his nagging groin problem for the rest of the season.[LNB] Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez had earmarked the game at Blackburn for his £21million record signing to return but was forced to concede he is still not ready after a month out.[LNB] Injury blow: Spain are monitoring progress of Fernando Torres[LNB] Worryingly for Torres and World Cup favourites Spain, Liverpool have consulted four specialists but remain unsure about the best way to treat him.[LNB] Surgery has been ruled out for now, but Liverpool may come under pressure from Spain to think again.[LNB] 'We played a game for 30 minutes the other day, and he was involved, but you do not want to take any risks, because he cannot complete a full training session at the moment,' said Benitez. 'He is getting close, so hopefully will be with us against Fiorentina on Wednesday.[LNB] 'It does look as though he is going to have this problem all season. [LNB]'You talk to different doctors, but the problem is, with groin injuries, you get so many varying opinions.[LNB] 'Though he has more confidence now, he is still feeling it a bit. Maybe we will have to keep an eye on him during the season and see how he copes. As for an operation, it is very difficult when you have this kind of problem.
