Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has insisted the players at Anfield still have every confidence in manager Rafa Benitez and vowed that the team will improve in the second half of the season.[LNB]Liverpool supporters have endured a difficult opening five months to the campaign, with the Reds now having only a slim outside chance of winning the Premier League and being knocked out of the Champions League.[LNB]Torres says the confidence is still there, claiming: 'We're extremely confident that we can regain the position (in the table) that we deserve and that it's still in our hands.[LNB] Priceless: Fernando Torres celebrates his late winner for Liverpool at Villa Park last month[LNB] 'We're virtually the same team that finished second in the Premier League last season and we're going to do everything we can to improve our situation.[LNB]'Unfortunately this season is not turning out how we'd wanted, but our best is still to come.'[LNB]Liverpool face an FA Cup replay with Reading this week, and can still rescue their season with success in that competition and the UEFA Cup.[LNB]Torres, who scored a crucial late winner for Liverpool against Aston Villa last month, told FIFA: 'Let's hope that we can put a string of good performances together come the end-of-season run-in and the most pivotal moments, and that we can put right what we've not done so well up to now.[LNB]'And who knows, in May we might well be talking about how good a season it's been. We've still got objectives to aim for.'[LNB] Still confident: Torres battling with Reading's Ivar ingimarsson during Liverpool's FA Cup third round clash at the Madejski Stadium earlier this month[LNB]The other main objective for Torres in 2010 will be to help Spain to World Cup glory in South Africa, and he believes defeat against America in last summer's Confederations Cup can be used as a positive by the European champions.[LNB]'I think that the most positive thing was how we bounced back after losing in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup,' he said.[LNB]'In a way, that defeat did us good by helping us realise that the road to the World Cup wasn't going to be easy, but that we had to stay on track. And what better way to do that than winning ten games in a row in qualifying.[LNB]'We've now recovered any confidence that we may have lost that day against the United States. What matters is we're heading into the World Cup unbeaten and we want to finish it that way, without losing to anybody.'[LNB] Finest hour: Torres scores the winner for Spain in the Euro 2008 final[LNB]Torres has established himself as one of the world's top strikers, with some marvellous performances for Liverpool, but his finest hour remains scoring the winner for Spain in the Euro 2008 final against Germany.[LNB]'We all dream of winning another final, particularly at a World Cup which is what every footballer aims for,' Torres added.[LNB]'I think that at one time or another we've all pictured ourselves being photographed lifting the World Cup. Let's hope that it happens this time round.[LNB]'We know it's difficult, but we're going to give everything we've got because we're in good form and we may not find ourselves in a situation like this again.'[LNB] Tom Hicks Jr resigns as Liverpool director after his extraordinary foul-mouthed rant stuns supportersLiverpool flop Voronin completes £1.8m switch to Dinamo MoscowLIVERPOOL FC
