Fernando Torres is aiming to break a 103-year-old Liverpool scoring record with a brace against Aston Villa on Sunday.[LNB] Torres will make his 50th league game for the club at Anfield on Sunday knowing that two goals will mean he will be the first Liverpool player since Jack Parkinson in 1906 to score 35 goals in his first 50 league games.[LNB]The Spaniard has already netted 33 league goals in 49 games, the best goal return at the club for 52 years and manager Rafa Benitez was keen to point out the goalscoring partnership Torres has with captain Steven Gerrard.[LNB]"People talk about them as two strikers these days. How many will they score? Certainly more goals than anyone else we have," Benitez said.[LNB]"They are fantastic players, very important for us, so for us to see Torres and Gerrard maybe scoring 20 goals each every season would be a massive boost.[LNB]"We need them and we know the team is better when they play together," he added.[LNB]Torres and Gerrard scored a combined 54 goals last season, but injuries have restricted their partnership this term so far, yet the pair have still managed to muster 29 between them.[LNB]Torres is keen to add to his tally of 11 goals this season but now that he has fully regained fitness and form, he admits it has been a tougher test this term.[LNB]"People seem to be marking me tighter and getting closer to me than last season, but that is only normal.[LNB]"After last season they are more aware of me and how I like to play. They know how me and Steven like to play, passing the ball between us.[LNB]"Unfortunately we have not been able to play together as much as we would have liked this season because of injury. But when we do it is up to us to adapt to overcome whatever is put in front of us."[LNB]
