Torres desperate for trophy

Fernando Torres admits he is desperate to end his trophy drought at Anfield. Torres signed for Liverpool in 2007, but despite helping his country Spain end their trophy-less run last year - he is yet to pick up a medal in England. The Spanish sensation is now determined to put that right this season. "It is so important for me to get my first club medal with Liverpool but I am young, I am just 25," said Torres. "I have won top honours with Spain now and, yes, there is a desperation to win a trophy for the fans at Liverpool. "Three years without a trophy is too much for Liverpool and especially the Premier League - it is far too long for this club. "We have to improve and try to win the league, the Champions League or maybe a cup because to go another season and have four years without a trophy would be a massive blow for Liverpool. "After winning the European Championship with Spain I know exactly how it feels to win a major trophy and I know that, if we can win at Liverpool, it will feel the same or even better than it did with Spain. Qualify of life Torres admits that his 'quality' of life is the most important factor about him being happy at Liverpool. "Madrid is a big city and I wasn't playing for the strongest team, so 80 per cent of the people there are Real fans," he said. "It was hard just to walk or go to a restaurant or the cinema because people do not have the same respect there that they do here for players. "If I went somewhere with friends [in Madrid] it was really difficult. Here in Liverpool, I can do almost everything I want to do. I can walk in the park, or to the Albert Dock. "The people recognise you but they have a lot of respect for a player. The quality of life is the main thing for me."
