Pepe Reina

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has proven himself as a solid and consistent goalkeeper. Certainly one of the top goalkeepers to ever play in The Premier League.

On his debut season in The Barclays Premier League – Reina managed to go his first eight games unbeaten. Until Everton striker James Beattie headed past him. However Liverpool won the game 3-1. Reina currently is the holder of many goalkeeping records for Liverpool – he holds the record for the fewest goals conceded by a keeper in the first 50 games, conceding just 29.

His debut season saw him claim the Premier League's Golden Glove award for keeping 20 clean sheets. The final game of the season saw Reina pull off uncharacteristic mistakes in the FA Cup Final – the game eventually ended 3-3. Reina would soon redeem himself however -as the game went to penalties Reina would go on to save 3 of four.

The following season saw Reina retain the Golden Glove award. This time with 19 clean sheets. Reina would go on the following season to once again claim the prestigious award. Drawing with Chelsea keeper Petr Cech – Reina lost out due to a inferior goal to game ratio. In 2008 – Reina became the quickest Liverpool player to keep 50 clean sheets.

It took Reina 92 games to do so – beating the previous record by three. Reina has gone on to make over 380 appearances for Liverpool. At just the age of 30 you can expect Reina to become, if not already, a Liverpool legend.
