Tom Hicks and George Gillett open door to fresh investors at Liverpool

Liverpool co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have announced that they are hunting for outside investment. The American duo have released a joint statement confirming that they have begun their search but they have insisted that there is no agreement yet. A statement read: 'The owners have jointly retained Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Rothschild to evaluate the possibility of new investors injecting equity into LFC. 'However, the process is at an early stage, there is no agreement with any party and reports to the contrary are wholly inaccurate.' It comes after the revelations that Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah al-Saud is looking to buy up to 50 per cent of the club. The Saudi Arabian prince announced that he was ready to pay between £200million and £350m for half the club. Hicks and Gillett paid £174m for the entire club in 2007.
