Time for Balotelli to heed Rodgers advice and get his head down at Liverpool

We're now past the halfway point of the Premier League season now. Mario Balotelli seems as far back on the fringes of the Liverpool set up than one could ever imagine possible for a player with such proven talent. However, after a spell that has not produced a single league goal and where the former Manchester City man’s style of play, and attitude for that matter, has not suited the Liverpool way this should not be too surprising.

But, Brendan Rodgers has now come out and insisted that Balotelli could yet feature for Liverpool, and not just as a part of his side’s plans, but as a future first team regular.

"I think I've shown here a number of times - players that have been out of the fold for various reasons, if they work hard every day in training and show the intensity and focus then they've every chance of getting back in the team - and not only of getting back in the team, but staying there. So the opportunity's there for Mario and for every player." Rodgers told SkySports News.

The news comes on the back of speculation that Balotelli does not train hard enough. Additionally, the player does not exactly have a proven track record for hard work and has therefore been criticized of wasting his talent. However, Rodger’s has never been afraid to speak frankly and he is offering Balotelli a chance to save his Liverpool life when it seemed so likely that he would more likely be leaving this January than staying. Balotelli has gotten all the advice he could ever use in a lifetime from some of the worlds very best managers. Jose Mourinho and Roberto Mancini have both backed him at club level. Now, on the back of Rodgers’ encouragement, it is time for him to heed the advice that he has been given throughout his career
