The futures bright for Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool
Its been an entertaining title challenge this season and although Liverpool didn't win the League, I can honestly say I’m extremely proud of my team and I think we all should acknowledge the efforts of the Reds this season. There's definitely more positives to take away from this than negatives given the fact that every football fan assumed that Liverpool would barely be able to compete for a top four place, let alone challenge for the title. Liverpool have produced some of the most exciting football this season mesmerizing football fans all over the world with their pace and attacking flare.
To be able to take a team like Manchester City to the final day of the season is an amazing feet in itself, as many believed they should have ran away with the title. The likes of Raheem Sterling as been a revelation this season and his an amazing talent. People forget the fact that Sterling cost Liverpool just £600,000 from Queens Park Rangers, and if you look at that price compared to the likes of Aguero, and Dzeko who hit the 30 Million plus mark its a huge difference. You also have the likes of Silva and Toure who were just under the 30 million bracket, compared to some more of Liverpool's attacking players, the likes of Suarez who reportedly cost the club just over the 20 million mark, Sturridge was around 12 million and Coutinho who cost only 8 million. These facts are quite astonishing and makes you realise just how much of a success this season was for Liverpool.
Personally I would call it sensational management by Rodgers this season, being able to make key decisions like keeping hold of Suarez, who as been one of the best players in the world this year, outscoring the likes of Diego Costa and Messi. Taking a risk on both Coutinho and Sturridge, who couldn't get off the bench at Inter Milan and Chelsea and also playing Steven Gerrard in a more deeper role, which as also proved to be a success.
I do think Liverpool will go through more changes this summer and could well see a number of players leaving Anfield as well as a large number coming in to help the Reds Champions League return and the title challenge. I should think the priority would be to tighten up the defence as well as more attacking talent to take the burden off Suarez and sturridge. I can say there will be more depth all over the pitch this season and I think there will be more additions to squad than people think.
The message I’ve got for all the heart broken Liverpool fans is ’’we've had a brilliant year so don't be disheartened, Champions league football is coming home so keep your chin and next season we go again’’
