The Shankly Show returns to City[LNB]IT was 50 years ago today that Bill Shankly announced his arrival at Liverpool Football Club.[LNB]A 4-0 defeat at Anfield to Cardiff City in his first game in charge proved a false dawn.[LNB]Within six seasons he had returned the club to the First Division, crowned them champions of England and seen a Reds captain hold the FA Cup aloft for the first time in the club's history.[LNB]It was a million miles from Shankly's baptism of fire on 19th December 1959.[LNB]Now, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Scot taking his place in the Anfield dugout, The Shankly Show is returning to the city.[LNB]Following its sell-out success at The Olympia and Royal Court theatres in 2008, the epic show about the life of Liverpool Football Club's most famous manager is back by popular demand.[LNB]Written by Andrew Sherlock, The Shankly Show is an iconic play about an iconic Liverpool manager and is set to be the first theatre play in the state-of-the-art Auditorium at the BT Convention Centre at the Echo Arena. It will show for two special performances on Thursday December 17 and Friday 18.[LNB]Shankly is played by critically acclaimed Scottish actor Alexander 'Sandy' West, who produces an extraordinary interpretation of the late, great Reds boss.
