The Jury: Reds fans on Tom Hicks Junior's resignation from Liverpool FC board

14 January 2010 00:05
IAN RICHARDSON, Rock Ferry[LNB]AFTER a show of total contempt by his son, the Tom Hicks PR machine is again working overtime in a bid to regain some respect from the fans his family not only lies to, but now also hurls abuse at.[LNB]Further excellent work by the Spirit of Shankly supporters' union exposed Tom Hicks Junior's behaviour, and any Reds who still believe Hicks and Gillett can take us forward are deluded.[LNB]With last season's massive interest payments boosted by the substantial fee received for Xabi Alonso, one must now wonder how this year's bill will be covered.[LNB]The removal of Tom Hicks Jr is just the tip of the iceberg; more hard work lies ahead and despite what Hicks and Co might think, the fans can, and will, have an affect on how our club is being run.[LNB]PAUL ANDERSON, Orrell Park[LNB]WITHOUT even playing a game we managed to make the headlines once again this week.[LNB]The resignation on Tom Hicks Junior was the only reasonable outcome of the whole embarrassing e-mail row; however perhaps now supporters realise how difficult it will be to progress under the current regime.[LNB]Bill Shankly was renowned for his contact with supporters with personal letters using a typewriter; it angers me to think how far in the wrong direction the club has gone during the last couple of years.[LNB]News of investors is long overdue, and will hopefully rid the club of its star spangled banner once and for all. Liverpool FC needs to be able to compete with the chasing pack in the transfer market, and at the moment we simply can't do that.[LNB]Shankly's holy trinity of players, manager and supporters must return.[LNB]As he said, directors just sign the cheques.
