THE JURY: Liverpool FC team choices, Bill Shankly and Aquilani

ANDY COLLINSON, Aigburth[LNB]AFTER the ignominy of the Arsenal game, where it looked as though Liverpool baulked at a team prepared to fight them, it seems as though the same characteristics were apparent against Wigan, where only through luck, did the Reds manage to achieve a satisfactory victory.[LNB]Ngog looks like he may be a decent player, but the general ineptitude of the rest seemed to offer Wigan chances David Blaine couldn't have conjured![LNB]All of which poses the question; exactly how difficult is it for Benitez to see where he's going wrong? Chelsea, Man United or Arsenal would all have slammed loads of goals past Wigan because they all play pass-and-move football.[LNB]The Reds have to play with two up front.[LNB]Only then will the fans see the football they're paying for and, Liverpool will start to dominate the teams who really shouldn't be in the division.[LNB]PAUL ANDERSON, Orrell Park[LNB]ON Wednesday the Kop paid tribute to the great Bill Shankly, I think it's worth reminding a few supporters that even the untouchable Shanks didn't have it all his own way.[LNB]The man who laid the foundations of the club went seven years without a trophy between 1966-1973. In that time he also failed to finish outside the now unthinkable fourth on three occasions.[LNB]I'm in no way comparing the two, but simply the fact even the greatest managers have difficult periods.[LNB]The performance on Wednesday wasn't one to behold, but it was three points regardless. Seeing a goal scored by Torres was as enjoyable as any of the previous 60. We must now beat Portsmouth and Wolves, and by doing so that should lift us into the Champions League places.[LNB]It was Shankly, who uttered those famous words that first is first and second is nowhere. We must not become delusional and think fourth is any sort of achievement.
