The Jury: Liverpool FC fans on the chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League

LISA SOUTHERN, Little Sutton[LNB]So Rafa Benetiz is adamant we'll finish in the top four this season whilst Lucas Levia warns fans we may not. Well that sums up Liverpool this season really - inconsistent.[LNB]The Reds are only four points behind third placed Arsenal but it's not just the Gunners we should fear as Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and even Aston Villa have all strengthened their squad this season, whilst our fans don't have the confidence in our own squad.[LNB] If we are to dent the top four then we must show strength of character and attack teams. We need Fernando Torres in the side to make a difference and fans are aching to see Alberto Aquilani in the starting eleven.[LNB] The Christmas fixtures of Portsmouth away, Wigan and Wolves at home look great on paper, although aren't they famous last words?[LNB] Let's hope the current squad picked up a few tips from the Liverpool old boys at their Christmas party on Sunday.[LNB]IAN RICHARDSON, Rock Ferry[LNB]FAILURE to qualify for next season's Champions League would obviously be a major blow.[LNB]With Rafa already heavily restricted in the transfer market thanks to the owners' interest payments and various other expense claims, any reduction in revenue streams would have a serious effect on how our club is run.[LNB]With very little, if any, funds available during the transfer window, Rafa will once again have to wheel and deal if he wishes to strengthen the squad.[LNB]One or two departures could make way for new arrivals in January but it is now up to the current playing staff to realise they must raise their game significantly if we are to retain our 'big four' status.[LNB]An extended run of matches for Fernando Torres and the introduction of Alberto Aquilani into the team should help our cause. Teams around us have more money to spend now and the days of Liverpool Football Club challenging for silverware are under serious threat while the club is being drained of funds to compete in the transfer market.
