The Jury: Liverpool FC fans look back on an up and down 2009

PAUL ANDERSON, Orrell Park[LNB]WELL, they do say this is the season to be jolly![LNB]And without performing anywhere near last season's heroics, we've finished the year with back-to-back wins and put ourselves back into contention for Champions League qualification.[LNB]2009 has been a strange year, the latter half being one to forget with inconsistency and injuries. But who can forget that terrific fortnight during March when we wiped the floor with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Aston Villa, playing some of the most exhilarating football in recent history.[LNB]Last night proved the importance of Fernando Torres - his impeccable finish deep into injury time summed him up; he only needs a sniff of a chance to turn one point into three. Reports in tabloids linking Torres away from Anfield don't worry me too much. The passion and pride he shows each time he pulls on the shirt makes me wonder if he was really born in Fazakerley Hospital as opposed to sunny Spain.[LNB]CHRIS LALLEY, Huyton[LNB]2009 has been a year like no other (apart from our usual blank drawn in the month January).[LNB]For a three month period at the back end of last season, we looked untouchable and the manner in which we swept aside all put in front of us gave us no reason to doubt that title number 19 wasn't just around the corner.[LNB]Fast forward six months and from the 75% win rate we achieved last season, there is absurd comments being made that Liverpool are a club in "meltdown". Meanwhile, the same Aston Villa side that now only sit two points above us are being touted as dark horses for the title![LNB]Despite the fact we still have a long way to go in order to get our performances back to the level they should be at, we have now managed to grind out two consecutive victories and kept as many clean sheets in the process. 2010 needs to be about the bigger picture and I for one, believe we will get back to where we belong.
