Liverpool could be set to add another Uruguayan to their ranks after star striker Luis Suarez recommended 17-year-old striker Kevin Mendez to the Liverpool board.

The Mirror is running an article claiming the Reds scouted the youngster during the U-17's World Cup last summer.

The 17-year-old, who plays for native side Penarol, was scouted by the Reds when he helped his country reach the quarter-finals of the Under-17s World Cup.

According to the Mirror Suarez has given the board a glowing report on the youngster and the Reds could be set to make a bid for the youngster in January.

Liverpool though could face stiff competition though as the article states that Spanish giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid along with AC Milan are all believed to be tracking Mendez.

The youngster is valued at £3m and if he turns out to be the real deal would represent another gem that Liverpool have unearthed.
