Stormy start for Roy Hodgson as first Liverpool match is beaten by the weather

New manager Roy Hodgson will have to wait to take charge of his first Liverpool game after Saturday's pre-season friendly was postponed.

The Reds tour match against against Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal was called off just before kick off due to a waterlogged pitch in Austria.

A large part of the playing surface was under water despite the efforts of the ground staff and the referee deemed the pitch unplayable after a pitch inspection.

It means Roy Hodgson will have to wait until Wednesday for his first Liverpool game when Swiss side Grasshoppers provide the opposition.
