Stop the presses! Liverpool fans are actually happy with a signing

It seems there’s to be another player taking the now well-travelled road between Southampton and Liverpool, with reports saying the clubs have agreed terms for Nathaniel Clyne.

Nothing will be confirmed until Clyne is back from holiday, but if all goes to plan the defender will become Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer – and the first that the fans actually seem pleased with (we’re not counting Roberto Firmino because you can’t really be pleased with someone you don’t know).

You really did just read a Liverpool fan praising the club for business they’ve done in the transfer market. Shall we compare and contrast?

And we don’t imagine there’ll be any sarcastic tweets from bookmakers when the deal officially goes through.

Maybe it has something to do with Jamie Carragher?

Or loyalty?

But Liverpool fans really have two reasons to be happy. The first is that Clyne looks set to take on the number two shirt, and the second is that he’ll be taking it from Glen Johnson – a man Liverpool fans have been trying to get rid of for at least a couple of seasons.

They’re so pleased that they’ve plucked up the courage to taunt Manchester United fans once again, after a couple of traumatic seasons.

And as much as United fans would like to, they can’t try to knock the quality of the Liverpool target.

That doesn’t mean they’ve not been trying though, or at least some of them.

While others are wondering how Clyne ended up at Liverpool … wasn’t he supposed to be heading to Old Trafford?

None of that matters now though. Clyne’s so good that by buying him, Liverpool are essentially fixing one of their worst signings of last summer.

If you’re a Liverpool fan, we recommend going to sleep RIGHT NOW. By the time you’re awake again you’ll almost definitely be closer to signing a few more players, based on current trends…

The rumour mill is in full swing, but Liverpool have shown massive intent already this summer and we wouldn’t be surprised for their business to be wrapped up soon.

In the midst of it all though, we’ve found the voice of reason.
